What if, indeed!

If you didn't pass, you'd have a lot less choice about how much 'outness' to show in your life. I'm an incredibly loud trans person, and talk publicly a LOT about transness. But if passing privilege were available to me, I'd probably live a lot more quietly. But facing my lack of 'passability', I'm faced with the choice of living proudly or living small. If people are going to notice my transness, then I'm going to make damn sure they NOTICE MY TRANSNESS!

That said, I wish I had the option....
