When I’m not building high-performing software engineering teams for driveway.com or working in the yard, I’m serving as an advisor for The Rise Journey. It was in that capacity thatI recently published an article on their blog, and thought I’d share it here. It’s a topic that is both deeply important to me, and barely done justice here…. it’s really big! But the hope is that it will help give cisgender people an opportunity to think about the ways in which they wield their privilege.

Transgender Humor In The Workplace

I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees, I skip and jump
I like to press wild flowers
I put on women’s clothing and hang around in bars

I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees, I wear high heels
Suspendies and a bra
I wish I’d been a girlie, just like my dear Papa

LyricFind — Songwriters: Terry Jones / Michael Edward Palin / Fred Tomlinson

Throughout history, privilege has been a lynchpin of comedy.
