Thank you.

Thank you for not denying your daughter the love and support she needs to live her best life.

Thank you for being open and frank about what a huge and complex wrinkle this introduces… it is totally valid to love your daughter, AND to mourn your son. It is totally valid to want to support her, AND be angry that she requires it.

Thank you for enduring the weird looks in the store, the deadnaming by insensitive clods, the emotional roller coaster… You have shown your daughter a love and a safety that many trans people never get to experience. She, and your relationship with her, will always be stronger for it.

Thank you for reminding me that there are parents out there that love their children more than anything else, that next to that love, everything else pales.

As a trans person that didn’t feel safe coming out while young, and on behalf of your daughter: Thank you.
